DESERT EAGLE
If you are looking for an accurate, reliable and powerful handgun to shoot for recreational/sporting/hunting and muzzle flash a few feet long and heavy recoil is no big deal to you, then this is your pistol. This model includes matched barrels and magazines to convert from 44 Mag to 50 AE and back, all contained in a padded case. The Desert Eagle Pistol is a semi-automatic pistol with a rotating bolt for positive lock-up. The barrel is locked in place, assuring a high degree of accuracy. Maximum effective range with the 6-inch barrel is 650 feet.
CALIBERS
If you wanted to change calibers in a single-caliber Desert Eagle, there is no conversion kit available. Relatively easier is .44 mag to .50 AE combo. Since those rounds have the same diameter case base, there's no need to replace the bolt assembly, just the barrel and magazine.
PURPOSE BUILT
The Desert Eagle pistols original designation was for silhouette target shooting, and that is the area where DEP excells the most. It is also an excellent handgun for hunting too! The DE shoots extremely powerful rounds and not recommended for self & home defense as the .50 AE round is powerful enough to go through class II bulletproof vest.
BARREL
The Desert Eagle features the innovative polygon rifling system as the bore looks almost smooth and featureless. The polygonal rifling reduces gas leakage and bullet distortion and promotes higher velocity; longer bore life and easier cleaning. Accuracy is typically as good or better than conventional rifling, which is probably why Desert Eagle owners claim that it is the most accurate pistol they've ever shot.
SHOOTING
A lot of people that shoot revolvers and different types of pistols have a tendency to limp-wrist in order to take up recoil of the gun itself. With the Desert Eagle pistol you have to take a good two-handed grip to assure a clean, crisp snapping action of the slide forward and back. If you are limp-wristing, it takes ups the inertia of the slide which won't come all the way back, and the action doesn't cycle properly.
AMMUNITION TYPE
If ammunition is underpowered it will not reliably cycle the action of a Desert Eagle. Shooting lead or full-metal jacket with an open lead base will foul the recoil spring assembly crosspiece and the rods, and it will also carbon and lead-foul the gas operated piston and solder it to the barrel. You should stay with commercial, manufactured semi-jacketed Magnum ammunition.
