We estimate this genuine U.S.A. Schrade Old Timer 158OT Skinner was manufactured some time in the mid to late 1970s from our poor memory of that line. Construction is one solid piece of Chrome Vanadium steel, the same metal that gave the Old Timer a good reputation for easy sharpening and toughness, with serrated brown composite handles. Overall length is 7 1/4 inches, 3 1/2 inches from point to handle edge. Dark toning is moderate, and we estimate it affects 30 percent or so of the metal surfaces. Blade has been machine sharpened at some point, but we estimate it has 90 percent of its original width and 98 percent of its original point length. Scabbard is original and pliable, with some threads loose on the top side and moderate surface crackling to the retaining strap. We rate this OT as Very Good, but photos ought to suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. There were never many of these gut-hook skinners in circulation.
