Based on the serial number range, it was made in either Jan or Feb of 1945. The Mauser factory was using up the old 1944 dated byf slides early in the 1945 production and so this is correct for a "d" serial number suffix pistol. The frame and slide display the thin phosphate finish that the Germans were switching to, while the barrel and take down lever still retains the blued finish - hence the "dual tone" name. All matching - frame, slide, barrel and locking block. Correct matched Walther made grips. Magazine is a correct WWII P.38 marked one. The gun has no major flaws that I am aware of other than normal wear to the surfaces as shown. No rust or pitting - just finish wear which is common for these phosphate guns as that finish is very thin and not too durable. Not mint, but not a boat anchor either. Just a nice honest example in my opinion. I try to provide an accurate and honest description so that there won't be any unpleasant surprises.
