Home domicile for this Colt model of 1908 Vest Pocket .25 Auto was the State of New York. From its 256,000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1920. Doubtless a young dandy New Yorker carried it during that decade, and it was on duty, in what capacity we do not know, during the Gangster Era of the Depression Years. Original bluing is quite strong throughout, with edge whitening and superficial spotting that affect perhaps 20 to 30 percent of its surface by our estimate. We classify it as Very Good, but photos should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent, and it is certainly in shooting condition. Grips are original and excellent, with only minimal pocket buffing to the bottom of the grip panels, as the photos show. This pistol comes to us from the collection of our favorite Kansas Lawman, who imported it from its original home domicile. Perhaps Mayor Bloomberg will be pleased to know that at least one small handgun made it from New York to Tennessee, and not vice versa. We really don’t care, because the mayor isn’t really our hero.
