One box came to us with these cases, and it is marked Q7083C, 50 cal. 38 S&W Primed Cartridge Cases. Box is NOT included with this lot. These are once-fired brass, probably used for blank cartridges in Smith & Wesson or Colt Lend-Lease revolvers rechambered in the British caliber for shipment to our Allies early on during World War II. We believe that the gun manufacturers used these to test the revolvers after their cylinders were re-processed. At any rate, these are quite unique and have a history that belongs to World War II, whether or not they were actually produced then. We’ve had them lying around since the 1970s.
