Merrimac arms was the first company to manufacture the southerner Derringer, followed by Brown MFG. which later sold out to Marlin,and the derringer was discontinued. Patent April 9,1867. bore is excellent, action is very tight I think it was hardly ever fired,if at all. the .41 caliber rim fire is still available from specialty places.
