This is a fully traditional 66 with satin stainless hammer and trigger. It has been lightly polished, so it will not quite grade Excellent. It has occasional tiny surface pecks on the trigger guard area, and here and there on the cylinder surface. There are also very light tiny pecks around both side plate screws where its Department Armorer removed the side plate for annual inspection, cleaning and lubrication. White outline rear sight edges show whitening on their edges. The matte area atop the frame and barrel are full strength original finish; so are the hammer and trigger surfaces. Period correct Pachmayr SK-G grips show moderate service wear, principally on the back strap area. This revolver is Very Good mechanically as well. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the forcing cone is moderate, no more than .001 at its center and the etching extends for about 2/3 of the frame width. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is slightly above average .009. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels an additional 10 to 15 degrees after the cylinder times into place on double action. On single action, on a veeerrryy slooo pull, the hammer travels a full 20 to 25 degrees after the cylinder times into place, but on one position, the cylinder times when the trigger pulls. Single action trigger pull is a tight but crisp 4 7/8 pounds. This is a very nice looking, traditional and appealing classic Model 66. It’s both collectable and eminently serviceable. Since we lack its box, we’re including a period appropriate J.M. Bucheimer Federal Man left hand holster.
