Colt has never acknowledged Mec-Gar as of yet by using them as a magazine subcontractor. Nevertheless, Mec-Gar magazines are the only magazines as good as, or better than, original factory mags. They lock the slides open like they're supposed to on the last shot; they free-fall eject correctly; and most important, they are always reliable, even with months of staying loaded. Mec-Gar magazines are constructed of all steel springs, magazine bodies, and spring plates with high impact polymer followers and polymer or steel buttplates. The buttplates to these genuine Mec-Gar 8 round magazines for all Colt Government / 1911 type pistols are classic polymer, virtually identical to those on the Sig P-220 pistols. They are, as the photos show, higher-than-standard 8 round capacity magazines with bright blue steel bodies. Factory code is MGCG4508BPF. These are the best.
