This miniature jack knife was probably manufactured by Colonial for a New York reseller some time in the 1940s. Overall length closed is only 2 inches, and the main spear pattern blade measures only 1 5/8 inches from heel to point. Note the traditional 1940s long groove on the spear blade; note also the rivet construction, through the cracked ice / imitation pearl handle panels. Construction is chrome steel; blades are full width, possibly never sharpened, because people who bought these, tourists, usually didn’t know beans about knife sharpening. Surface detractions come from age and storage, not from use; blades are well toned with some rust residue, and the handle panels are nicely aged. Note also that the left end of the panels are drilled for a lanyard ring. We rate this miniature New York Jack as Very Good, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is mechanically as good as it ever was; backspring strength is normal. We’re offering this 1940s New York Souvenir Knife for only $ 29.00.
