Description: From the estate of one of the most respectable medical professionals in St. Tammany Parish Louisiana comes this very nice, well maintained Connecticut Valley Arms traditional Muzzleloading rifle in .32 caliber. Model name is simply, Varmint, beside the CVA Spain .32 Caliber marking on the upper left flat of its 24 inch Octagonal barrel. Type is percussion Muzzleloading rifle with traditional side mounted hammer. This CVA Varmint, however, has been professionally drilled and tapped, and had its hammer spur bent to accommodate a scope, easily mounted on #61 Weaver bases. Firing mechanism is single trigger, with case colored hammer and side plate; and with brass single trigger and trigger guard. Stock is walnut stained Spanish hardwood, with brass buttplate and forend cap, and brass furniture. Rate of twist is 1:48, same as the CVA Squirrel Rifle, easily adaptable for round ball and patch or for maxi type bullets. Weight empty is 6 pounds 4 ounces, with center of gravity directly beneath the windage and elevation adjustable rear sight. Ramrod is brass tipped black anodized aluminum with CVA Spanish thread jag on the back end. This is a very well maintained specimen; and no wonder, its exclusive owner was the son of one of Covington Louisiana’s gun dealers of the 1950s and 1960s. Surface detractions are minimal, with faint edge whitening on the barrel and age dulling to the glossy stock finish. We rate this CVA as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly Excellent mechanically; bore, nipple and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. So far as we can tell, CVA has completely abandoned its traditional style muzzleloaders. From this one’s N2 Spanish date code, it was manufactured in 1994. Replacement pricing for anything similar nowadays is upwards of $700. We’re offering this CVA .32 Varmint, however, scarce even during its peak production years, for only $ 289.00.
