This listing is for One pistol. Here is the original Sig Sauer Hi-Cap Compact, the P228. From its KB date code, it was manufactured in 1991. Manufacturer was Sig Sauer Systems of Eckenford, Germany. Right side of slide reads, P228 / Made in Germany. Importer was Sig Arms of Exeter, NH, and left side slide is so marked. Type is locked breech double and single action semi automatic pistol. Caliber is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Construction is steel barrel, slide, parts, levers, trigger, hammer, and magazine built into a lightweight alloy frame. Finish is non glare Nitron®, with matte black anodized frame. Barrel is 3.9 inches 6 groove right hand 1:10 rifling. Slide is serrated rear, 1.02 inch thick at the port, with full length steel guide rod and Sig braided steel return spring. Sights are dovetailed front and rear, original issue Siglites but refilled with white polymer, so 3 dot system with 5 1/2 inch sight radius. Trigger is solid .375 smooth faced combat steel, 1 1/8 inch of consistent 12 pound vicinity travel on double action. Single action is two stage with total 3/8 inch travel; single action pull on this P228 is 4 1/16 pounds with negligible felt creep. All Sigs have firing pin safeties, but no manual safety or magazine safety. Hammer is .312 short serrated spur with a 35 degree cocked position. The P228 has a left side mounted decocker for halting a firing session from cocked single action position. Magazine included is a Mec-Gar 15 rounder, 15+1 rounds fully loaded; and a 228 will accept its own or any P226 or P229 magazine. Magazine release is right hand shooter, left side, but reversable. Grip frame is serrated front strap and type three rounded, serrated front trigger guard. Weight empty is 29.5 ounces, with center of gravity at the breech face. Overall length is 7 inches, height 5 1/4 inches. Surface detractions on this P228 are minimal to moderate, only faint edge whitening on the frame, slide, and levers. We rate it as Very Good, perhaps even Excellent, 85 to 90 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate this Sig has been fired 1500 times, no rounds at all for a P228. It comes with an unlabeled gray factory box, with instruction manual and original test target. This pistol comes to us from a Memphis Area estate collection.
