This listing is for One pistol and Five Boxes of Russian Makarov Caliber ammunition. Here is a pristine specimen of the mainstay handgun of the Soviet Army and Eastern Bloc during the Cold War, a top quality Bulgarian made Makarov, or Pistolet Makarova. The design borrowed heavily from Karl Walther’s products, plentiful in the Soviet States since 1942, and became the Eastern Bloc service weapon in 1951. Manufacturer on this specimen is Arsenal AD of Bulgaria. Type is blowback action semi-automatic pistol; construction is entirely steel, with pliable rubber grips. Magazine is cutaway sided steel, and holds 8 rounds of 9x18 caliber ammunition. Action is single and double; long double action pull on the first shot from a resting hammer, and then single action from the cocked hammer until the operator ends the firing session by engaging the safety or decocking lever. Upward is safe; downward is fire, the opposite of the Walthers and their U.S. descendants. Sights are slide-integral milled small blade front with blued steel dovetailed rear, drift adjustable only for windage. Weight empty is 26 ounces; barrel is 3 3/4 inch 4 groove right hand twist. This specimen comes to us from the collection of our favorite Kansas lawman. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint amounts of edge whitening on the side of the muzzle, and operation streaking to the safety’s groove on the slide and to the back of the trigger. We rate this Makarov as Excellent, 95 percent vicinity, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. We do not believe this pistol has been fired more than 100 rounds. Buyers need to know the difference between 9x17 / .380 ACP, 9x18 Makarov caliber, and 9mm Luger. This is Makarov caliber, and sometimes the Makarovs will cycle .380 ACP but not 9mm. Ammunition is Brown Bear Russian 94 grain Full Metal Case, total of 5 boxes or 250 rounds. We’re offering this excellent little pistol with 250 rounds of ammunition, all for only $ 389.00.
