Offered for your consideration is this very rare 1886 Extra Lightweight rifle in 45-70. The rapid taper barrel is 22 inches in length and measures .642" at the muzzle. The bore is mirror bright with sharp rifling, no trace of pitting from chamber to muzzle. I rate the bore 9.5 on a 10 scale. The barrel retains 90% thining blue with slight carry wear behind the rear sight and trace muzzle wear. The front sight is a Marbles No. 2 Ivory bead, the rear is a Winchester #24 with thumb style elevator 1901 patent date. The button magazine retains 95% blue. The receiver retains 40% blue with typical carry wear. It is mechanically excellent, feeds, chambers and ejects smoothly and locks up tight. I have not test fired yet but I expect this one to be a fine shooter. The hammer holds properly on half cock and the trigger breaks crisply at 5 pounds. The wood is solid and tight, no cracks, chips, dents or extra holes, just very light handling marks. The wood is flush to proud above the tangs, no chips or cracks around the tangs. The buttplate is intact and free of cracks. Overall condition is conservatively 65+%. A rare vintage 1886 in well above average condition.
