Since the Chinese SKS rifles dried up a few years back, a good many Yugoslav ones have trickled into the country. Here is a very nice, eminently serviceable Yugo Specimen of the M 59/66, designed in 1959. It is a Curio / Relic by BATF standards, yet cannot be shipped into California on account of the grenade launcher. Metal finish is Very Good to Excellent throughout, with slight contact wear on the upper areas of the dust cover, gas tube, and front sight. Bayonet is chrome plated 11 ½ inches from heel to point, and all the forward equipment including the grenade launcher are excellent. Wood finish is good, no visible cracks anywhere, but there is extensive light scouring mixed with a varnish-type refinish. The wood gas tube cover or upper forend has moderate to heavy pecking and scouring on its surface, and is darker and, we assume, older than the buttstock itself. Barrel is blued throughout, is NOT chrome lined; it has an excellent bore and chamber as the photos show; and its length is 18 ½ inches; overall length is 38 ½ inches with a relatively short 12 ¾ inch length of pull from the trigger to the end of the butt pad. Weight is approximately 7 ½ pounds unloaded. Magazine capacity is, of course, 10 rounds, and these are slotted to accept stripper clips. Rear sight elevation is calibrated to 1000 meters. Serial number on this particular specimen is G-1884xx, and the buttstock cartouches and magazine serial numbers match the receiver number. Importers markings, Century Arms International, is visible but inconspicuous beneath the barrel.
