The serial number on the receiver puts it as a first year of production rifle 1953. Only 500 H&R rifles were manufactured in this first production year for delivery to U.S. Armed forces. Rifle has gone through at least one U.S. Arsenal rework. The original barrel has been replaced with a Springfield Armory(SA) barrel dated 12/63. Bolt and operating rod are also SA manufactured. Trigger housing is Springfield armory manufactured. Stock has the “P” proof marking. The is a rack number on the stock as well as a rack number sticker on the rear sight. Bore is bright with no pitting. Stock is solid with no cracks. Hand guards are solid with no cracks. Throat Reading: #4. Muzzle Reading: #3+. Rifle has no import mark. Credit cards 3.5%.
