This specimen saw less than a decade of service to our fellow Americans, and it comes with its original box, papers, 2003 dated fired brass, and a total of three factory 8-round magazines. Surface detractions are only moderate; holster buffing contact on the slide top and edges comes from carry in a very tight-fitting SSIII Security Duty Holster. From our inspection of it, we estimate it has been fired no more than 500 rounds. Bushing contact to the distinctive 4500 configuration barrel is only moderate. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Factory Night Sights are full strength luminosity, likely with another decade of life in them. Product Code is 149288. Type is traditional double- and single-action semi-auto; construction is stainless steel with anodized Novak type Night sights, ambidextrous safety-decocker levers, .260 spurred hammer, and .305 smooth face combat trigger. Barrel is 4 1/4 inch with collar type muzzle and steel full length guide rod, and that combination gave the 4500 series Smith & Wessons their legendary accuracy. Weight empty is a superbly balanced, straight-pointing and pleasant-shooting 39.1 ounces, about the same as a Combat Commander. This fine pistol comes in its original box with papers, this one’s box has a missing gray hinge, however.
