From a collection in nearby Shelby County Tennessee comes this very early, pristine Heckler & Koch German Made Model 91-A3 chambered in the 7.62x51 caliber that we know and love as .308 Winchester. From its HI date code and AO15000 range serial number, and SACO importer stamp, it was manufactured in 1978. This rifle is all factory HK except the rear sight; and the rear sight is factory HK replacement that we ordered from PTR-91 Company. Apart from that correct rear sight, and possibly its bipod and bayonet, only the scope and mount are later additions. Bayonet appears period correct, but it unmarked except for its 1 IC stamp on its handle and 3 IB Stamp on its sheath. Bipod is possibly factory, its finish, as the photos should show, has a green parkerized tint coloration. As far as this rifle’s specs, Type is roller delayed blow-back semi automatic. Manufacturer is Heckler & Koch, in what was West Germany at the time of production. Importer is SACO of Arlington, Virginia, the exclusive importer from 1975 until 1978. The A3 designation, of course, indicates a retractable metal buttstock that allows the overall length of this rifle to vary from 33 inches to 40 inches overall length. Length of pull with the stock fully extended measures 14 3/4 inches from the smooth combat trigger face to the end of the serrated metal heel buttplate. Barrel, of course, is the standard factory 6 groove rifling, 1:12 Right Hand Twist, measures 20 inches, including the brake. Weight empty with scope. bipod and in-battery magazine is 12 pounds 8 ounces. Scope is a Trijicon ACOG 4x32 with parkerized steel scope mount that attaches with Allen screws, as the photo show. Scope marking simply has the white ink Tritium notice on its left side, and 4x32 marking on the right side of its rail, with Trijicon’s famous citation of John 8:12 from the New Testament. We are not readily conversant with Trijicon scopes, but this one is excellent mechanically, and we estimate that it was bought new in 2002 or 2003. Lens coatings and luminosity are full strength. Factory number 3141 is stamped on its upper flat, in front of the eyepiece lens. We’ll deduct $400 if we keep the scope, or we’ll sell the scope separately for $639. We are including a total of Six Magazine. One of the magazines came with this rifle; the other five are German Military Pre-Ban 20 Rounders. Surface detractions are minimal, principally two inch faint white streaks on the upper sides of the receiver, forward of the rear scope mount dovetails. We classify this 91A3 as Excellent, since no more than 5 percent of its finish is affected; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is Excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent; and from our knowledge of its owner, it has been fired fewer than 300 rounds, all with brass case U.S. made factory Ammunition. We’re offering this attractive, eminently collectable Heckler and Koch model 91 A3 rifle, complete with its scope, mount, bayonet, magazines, and bipod, for only $ 3900.00. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
