Description: From a Shelby County Tennessee Estate comes this attractive specimen of Browning’s resurrection of the 1885 High Wall Rifle. Production on this variant only ran from 1996 until 2001, so says Fjiestad’s Blue Book. From this one’s NP serial number code, it was manufactured in 1998. Manufacturer was B.C. Miroku of Nankoku, Japan. Importer is Browning Arms, Arnold, Missouri. Type is Sharps style falling block single shot long range rifle. Chambering is .45-70 Government for black powder or Pyrodex® cartridge loads. Construction is all steel metal with American Walnut Buttstock and forend. Barrel is Badger 30 inch Heavy semi-octagonal, 1/2 inch across the flats to the forend tip, and 1.15 outside diameter at the muzzle. Rifling is six groove right hand 1:18. Sights are level equipped crosshair wire globe front and steel with level, and calibrated rear folding aperture sight. Receiver and barrel are drilled and tapped for Redfield or Weaver type scope mount bases. Trigger is .365 serrated face, with .350 short spur hammer. Trigger is adjustable, but pulled at a crisp 3 1/4 pounds with no felt creep. Forend is Schnabel type, and buttstock is pistol grip with Monte Carlo cheek piece and steel grip cap and butt plate. Finish is matte blue barrel, bright blue trigger, white bolt and rear sight laterals. Receiver, lever, grip cap, and buttplate are all case colored. Wood finish is plain oil type. Weight empty is 11 pounds 6 ounces, with center of gravity about 6 inches forward of the chamber mouth. Length of pull measures 13 7/8 inches from the trigger face to the end of the butt plate; overall length is 48 1/4 inches. Surface detractions are minimal to moderate, produced by storage wear but not from use. Forend shows a small scour on the schnabel point, on the upper left edge, two instances of flattened checkering, and a streak on the forward left side. Buttstock shows a half dozen small mars on its under side and one on the pistol grip left side next to the grip cap. We detected two small freckled areas on the receiver bottom and similar on the lever sides and centers. Rear sight vertical shows freckling near its pivot barrel. White rear sight laterals show toning freckling. None of this freckling is readily conspicuous. Finish is strong throughout. We rate this High Wall as Very Good, perhaps even Excellent, 85 to 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We do not believe this rifle has been fired. Replacement pricing on similar rifles from Taylor’s Imports exceed $2,000 per unit. We’re offering the Browning 1885 Winchester High Wall descendant in the photos, however, for only $ 1439.00. 2% Discount if payment is with USPS Money Orders & Not Credit Cards. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
