U.S. Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol, manufactured by R. Johnson in Middletown, Conn., serial # none, cal. 54, with 8 1/2" barrel and a good but lightly pitted bore, lockplate is dated 1842 with strong visible markings, brass flashpan has rich dark patina overall the remaining metal surfaces bear a pleasing brownish dark gray patina with some scattered specks of pitting confined mostly to the breech section of the barrel, the hammer shows an old repaired break that you have to look for to see and a replaced top jaw and mounting screw, nice walnut stock with strong edges and crisp cartouches that rate excellent except for a section that is chipped away behind the lockplate, overall a very nice unconverted martial pistol that has seen little use and will definitely look great in any Collection.
