This pistol was built in 1911. It is a fine example of a weapon that was shot occasionally and carried daily. The condition of this pistol shows wear on the slide and wear where it was carried in the right hand trouser pocket. The slide also shows a number of tiny nicks on the blue on the slide where other objects were in the same pocket. The frontstrap and rear strap show daily handeling. This pistol has a good bore and functions well when fired. The rear of the barrel shows wear on the blue on the blue that is visable through the ejector port. The magazine shows that this automatic was removed and replaced often. The hard rubber grip panels show daily handling. This weapon was carried for some 40 years by a local businessman. The front sight has been lowered slightly to bring it to a center point of aim. This is an old pistol that is in the Curio & Relic catagory. Further, it is a weapon that when I hold it in my hand it honestly does speak to me; it tells me of the day it wounded an Armed Robber, of the countless days it helped carry a deposit to the bank and all those dark nights it went home with it's owner. Don't ask me how I can hear this but I do. This is a very good example of a weapon that was made nearly a century ago yet it would still with the right ammo it would again stand guard duty. This model's magazine holds 8 cartriges and this first varition of the Model M has a 4" barrel. Colt made 572,215 civilian model Ms and 200,000 Military Model Ms between 1903 and 1945 as many as these that were built it is difficult to find one in this good condition that is this old is becoming more and more difficult to find.
