Here is the most attractive variant of the classic Woodsmaster Series of Remington Centerfire Semi-Autos, the Model 7400, with Satin semi-gloss checkered walnut stock and forend, and matching blue steel finish on its metal. The original 740 and 742 Woodsmaster series rifles came on the scene in the late 1950s, and most of them are still viable. Their reputation for problems is not deserved, because malfunctions and wear always happened due to lack of maintenance by those guns’s owners, the ones that did give problems. That is not the case with this locally owned specimen. From its DX Barrel Date Code, it was manufactured in July of 2003. We got it from its original owner. Surface detractions are minimal, with only a couple of scours on its buttstock. We rate it as Excellent, 90 to 95 percent vicinity, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly Excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent; and from its condition and our knowledge of its exclusive owner, it has been fired fewer than 60 times. The Scope is a 2.5x10, 50mm Super Wide Angle 1 inch Simmons, and it is anchored in place by a blue steel one piece Leupold Base and High Leupold Rings. Scope is excellent mechanically as well. Sling is an Allen Padded Camo with Michaels’ Super Swivels. Specs are, gas operated semi-automatic rifle, caliber .30-06 Springfield, internal detachable magazine with 4 + 1 capacity. It has a trigger guard safety, capable of locking with Remington’s green cased keys. Weight empty, with all its equipment intact, is 9 pounds 6 ounces. Barrel is 22 inch with classic Remington windage and elevation adjustable iron sights. Length of pull on the buttstock is 13 1/4 inches from the trigger face to the end of the buttplate, and overall length is 42 3/8 inches. Replacement pricing on this setup is upwards of $1000.00.
