It can be quickly configured for the range or for different hunting purposes. The rifle features a pistol grip that allows the shooter to have a natural and relaxed grip on the rifle. All variants of the Sako Black Wolf weigh in right around 9 pounds and features a sleek black laminate stock.

All Sako 85 models have free-floating barrels manufactured by Sako specialists. Barrel blanks are drilled, honed, cold-hammer forged and finished, and finally individually inspected by a complex, highly refined, optical fine-tuning instrument: the human eye. Twist rate is chosen for each caliber to optimize accuracy and bullet performance. The Sako 85 barrels, blued or stainless, have a non-reflecting, satin-like surface. The Sako 85 stainless steel barrels are made from stainless steel with increased chromium content for better weather resistance and durability.
