Here is one of the new kids on the block, the ISSC / Austrian Sporting pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle caliber that might well serve as a trainer for Glock users. Its introduction occasioned a swift lawsuit from Glock’s attorneys with an undisclosed cash award and other concessions awarded to Glock in August of this year. Since Austrian Arms debuted the pistol at in 2009, it appears that their Georgia antagonists were patient enough. The M22, writes the Austrian Company, is the ideal range pistol. The M22 brings you handling and performance that is closer to the modern defensive handgun than any other rimfire pistol. Designed for inexpensive high velocity 22LR ammunition, the accurate rapid fire performance of the M22 offers the shooter an economical shortcut for modern pistol practice.The M22 gives shooters the opportunity to shoot with extreme accuracy due to the combination of a Lothar Walther match barrel, standard on all models, an extremely crisp, 4-lb single-action trigger and adjustable sights.Each M22 comes with a 10-shot magazine, manual, training target and tools to adjust the front sight and lock the trigger in place. This variant is the CCA170, five inch compensated barrel with white block front sight and windage adjustable white outline rear sight. We all know what this pistol looks like. A distinctive departure is the grooved center serrated rounded hammer and ambidextrous decocking lever / main safety. Trigger safety is familiar enough, but it has a locking device on the side of the trigger. Grip frame is high impact polymer with three-slot integral Picatinny rail. The only steel parts that we can identify with our magnet are the hammer, firing pin housing, decocking pivot screw, and barrel. Several internal parts appear to be steel as well. Slide and compensator are non-steel alloy. Weight empty is just under 26 ounces, with a center of gravity underneath the trigger. Our Carolina neighbors report excellent reliability with Federal, Winchester, and Aguila ammunition, and occasional misfires with CCI and Remington.
