Not since military production on the M-1 Carbine has there been a credible reintroduction of that classic, until a rejuvenated Auto Ordnance Corporation, under control of Kahr Arms, began production in 2005. All others were mongrel parts guns like the Universals and somewhat better made Plainfields. Here is Auto Ordnance’s reintroduction of the most sought after of all carbines, the M1A1 that was produced during World War II in relatively small numbers. Few of us will get the chance, or be able to afford, to own a mint condition M1A1. Here is as close as most of us will ever come: The Auto Ordnance AOM150 Carbine with Metal Folding Stock and Walnut main stock. Construction is completely milled steel barrel and receiver, with steel trigger goup, all of it parkerized, and with correct bright blue steel mounting junctures for the parkerized steel folding stock frame. Buttplate is serrated, spring-loaded swiveling cast brass. Sights are early WWII type two-leaf aperture, and safety is Early War type as well, push-button. Manufacturer’s marking, Auto Ordnance / Worcester, MA, located behind the rear sight. Detailing is correct, even down to the genuine leather cheek piece with its brass retaining rivets. Magazine included is a current production blue steel AOC 15 rounder. This is more than a classic, it’s a slick made carbine, slicker and more smoothly finished than even the originals were. A Mint Condition M1A1 commands pricing in the five figures many times.
