In the early days of wide-open, or wider open, deer hunting here in West Tennessee, late Carter / early Reagan years, the .41 Magnum was one of only three legal calibers for deer hunting with handguns. That well deserved place was largely won by this revolver's immediate ancestors, the Ruger Blackhawk .41 Magnum. Photos show a fresh production New Model Blackhawk .41. Manufacturer, of course, is Sturm Ruger & Co of Newport, New Hampshire and so marked. Factory letter model is BN41, catalog number 00405. Construction is steel barrel, cylinder, mainframe, and internal parts with black anodized alloy grip frame and ejector rod housing. Barrel is 4 5/8 inch, 4.62, with 1:20 Right Hand 6 groove bore. Sights are soldered serration stepped .117 thick blade front with Micro style pinned-in black blade rear that is adjustable for windage and elevation. Finish is blue and anodized, with stainless .290 smooth faced trigger and matching spur hammer that propels a floating firing pin. Weight empty is 38 ounces, with center of gravity at the cylinder face, forward leaning for better recoil management. Type is Single Action Revolver, with transfer bar safety mechanism to guard against accidental discharge. Caliber is .41 Remington Magnum, and cylinder capacity is 6 rounds. Grips are black checkered composite with Ruger Logo Medallions. Despite its simple, traditional design, this is one of the smallest packages that can pack its kind of punch – 1800 feet per second and 1300 foot-pounds of energy. The Ruger Blackhawk is managable, it’s simple to use, less dangerous than many more popular handguns, and as sure firing a piece as a person will ever find. We’re offering the Ruger .41 Magnum New Model BN41 Blackhawk in the photos, or one of its identical mates, for only $ 489.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of Massachusetts.
