From an estate collection near the Kentucky line comes this attractive rimfire revolver. Manufacturer was Iver Johnson’s Arms & Cycle Works, Fitchburg, Mass., U.S.A., abbreviated on the top strap as I.J.A.&C Wks. Named model is Iver Johnson Target, so marked on the top strap, and numbered model 55SA. Production of the series ran from 1955 until 1974. From this one’s H64000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1966. Construction is entirely steel metal with one piece composite polymer grip. Barrel is 6 inches with the usual 1:16 six groove right hand twist. Mechanism is roll out cylinder, with a pull pin for ejection but also a right side gate for loading purposes. Note the recess in the cylinder to guide reassembly. Chambering is 8 rounds of .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle ammunition interchangeably. Action is traditional single and double action. Trigger is .305 serrated face, with .382 serrated spur hammer. Firing pin is incorporated on the hammer’s nose. Mechanism has a transfer bar and semi cock position. Weight empty is 28.5 ounces, centered on the trigger. Finish is brushed blued barrel and cylinder, matte blued frame, and color casehardened hammer and trigger. Grips are glossy finish. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint amounts of inconspicuous freckling on the frame. We rate this Iver Johnson as being in Excellent Condition, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, cylinder chambers are bright and clean. We estimate this revolver was fired no more than 300 times, if that many. It comes from the estate of a retiree near Fort Campbell.
