When our late previous proprietor left for law school in 1984, the younger brother, our present proprietor, began stocking the Savage 110 rifles like this one because they were an exceptional value. We sold them for a couple years for less than $200 apiece new. What surprised us all was their consistent excellent accuracy. We even began stocking 110 LA Steel Bases and Extension Scope Rings for them back then. They outshot the old M-77 Rugers, and held their own with the definitive 700 Remingtons, and occasionally outshot the Remingtons. Here is an Excellent Condition specimen of the fine Savage 110 Bolt Action, E serial number prefix. Its surface detractions are few and minor. We detect one small light scratch on the barrel surface just back of the muzzle on the right side, and very faint edge whitening to the muzzle crown. Bolt operation buffing is minimal, with a faint amount of whitening on the under side of the bolt handle itself. Cheeckpiece flat on the buttstock has light scouring, but the pebble finish of the rest of the stock is so durable it does not show wear. Bore and chamber are bright, clean, and Excellent. We rate it as Excellent finishwise, but photos should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Serial number is E9473xx, if anyone is privy to Savage serialization. Scope is an Excellent Condition Japan made Simmons model 1029, 3x9x40mm wide angle, a significantly high quality Simmons given the flood of Chinese scopes on the market nowadays. Green tint objective lens coatins and pink-tint eyepiece coatings are intact and excellent. Scope Rings are Vintage Weaver 2-screw Medium Rings.
