This Smith & Wesson Victory Model was produced in 1942. It was part of a U.S. Goverment contract and was later issued to the United States Army Air Force, (USAAF).
The serial number and USAAF are stamped on the buttstrap. There are a number of other stamps that I am unfamilar with. There is a US21 stamped on the topstrap that seems to have the S partilly overstamped. Sm,ith & Wesson is stamped on the left side of the barrel, the paten history is stamped on the top of the barrel and .38 Special Ctg. is stamped on the right side of the barrel. The finish is a dull blue with little wear and the grip panels are smooth walnut also showing little wear. Thia weapon either spent the was in a desk drawer or in a holster. This is a fine example for a smith collector or a militarry collecter. We see quite a few Victory Models, but few that were issued to the Army Air Force.
