Description: Here is an attractive, serviceable and thoroughly traditional Smith & Wesson .38 Military and Police, numbered Model 10, Seventh Engineering change, that spent its entire career enforcing the law in South Louisiana. It came into service in 1978 under the Administration of the Honorable Gordon J. Martin, who served as Sheriff of St. James Parish, and spent a total of 40 years serving and protecting the good citizens of that jurisdiction. Barrel is 4 inch Standard or Pencil variant, pinned in place to the frame, with serrated ramp front sight. Capacity is 6 rounds of .38 Special, interchangeably with +P ammunition; type is traditional double and single action with transfer bar internal safety device; and construction is entirely blue steel with Smith & Wesson K Frame Square Butt grip frame. Trigger and hammer are original color casehardened .265 serrated face service trigger with matching serrated spur hammer. Grips are period correct Sile Italian Combat replacement combat. Surface detractions are extensive; after all, St. James is swampy. Barrel and upper frame area show extensive gray and brown areas, some of them etchy. Trigger and hammer sides still show their casehardening, but with browning; and there is extensive small brown freckling on the bluing. We rate it as only Good, 60 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. This Model 10 is Excellent mechanically. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is negligible, only faint streaking that is not distinguishable from the mill marks on that surface, and with no cutting whatsoever. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap measures wider than normal .010; and these facts, coupled with the moderate blue wear to the ejector rod, indicates to us that this revolver has not undergone very much firing, certainly not with +P rounds. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent; hammer travels an additional 5 degrees on all six positions in double action after the cylinder times into place. On single action, the hammer travels an additional 20 to 25 degrees on all six after timing. The single action trigger pull is a stiff but crisp and original 4 3/4 pounds. Lateral play to the cylinder is negligible, less than 1mm total, both with the trigger relaxed and with it fully depressed. Forward movement of the open cylinder on the yoke is moderate, about 2mm by our estimate. We're offering this very attractive, serviceable and collectable authentic Arcadian Lawman Model 10-7 for only $ 289.00 Not transferable to civilians in California, District of Colombia, or Massachusetts. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
