Here is the current, state-of-the-art form of the Classic Colt Combat Commander model that retains the traditional look and balance of John M. Browning's invention with updates that maintain its status as the leader among experienced hangunners. This is the classic 4 1/4 inch barrel all-steel Colt M1991A1 Commander, catalog #O4091U, .45 ACP. It's entirely stainless steel, 7 3/4 inches overall length, classic combat or Commander hammer, aluminum combat trigger, 3-dot sights, with checkered rubber Rampant Colt grips. Its thumb safety is standard configuration, but the grip safety is Beavertail for comfortable, controllable shooting. Aluminum, not plastic, trigger is standard, and all 1991 series Colts, this one included, come with beveled magazine well and two 7 + 1 capacity magazines. Finish, as the photos of an actual stock specimen show, is matte stainless with brushed stainless side features. Grip frame is full size, of course, on the Combat Commander. Only the front end of the frame, the slide, and the barrel are 3/4 inches shorter than the Government size.
