Description: .44 Double Action First Model designed to fire the .44 S&W Russian cartridge, first introduced in 1881 and sold until 1913- only 55,000 revolvers were produced. This First Model was manufactured in 1884. 6 inch barrel, nickel finished, and checked walnut grip- all original. Slight frosting but overall excellent condition. John Wesley Hardin was carrying a .44 DA first model when he was killed in the Acme Saloon by Constable John Selman in El Paso When the James gang was shot to pieces during a bank robbery attempt in Northfield, Minnesota in August 1876 several .44 Russian revolvers were taken from the wounded and dead gang members
