Description: Here is an attractive, serviceable and thoroughly traditional Smith & Wesson .38 Military and Police, numbered Model 10, Fifth Engineering change, that our old friends at Davidson Supply came across on a Department Trade. Only one of this revolver’s mates was marked WCF, for Webb Correctional Facility; but it served with the Delaware Department of Corrections there in Wilmington. Its barrel is the same configuration tapering as its 1905 M&P Ancestors, and this revolver has served and protected citizens throughout the world more than any other. Barrel is 4 inches, pinned in place to the frame, with serrated ramp front sight. Capacity is 6 rounds of .38 Special, interchangeably with +P ammunition; type is traditional double and single action with transfer bar internal safety device; and construction is entirely blue steel with Smith & Wesson K Frame Square Butt grip frame. Trigger and hammer are original color casehardened .265 serrated face service trigger with matching serrated spur hammer. Grips are period correct Sile Combat replacement. From its 5D Serial Number prefix it was manufactured in the Middle of President Reagan’s Inaugural Year, 1981; so it is one of the last Bangor Punta Pinned Barrel Model 10 Revolvers ever to leave the factory in Springfield. Its principal surface detractions are only moderate holster whitening and finish freckling. Note that the butt section of the grip frame, the surface where the serial number is stamped, is white. Color Casehardening to the serrated service trigger and hammer is strong, and we rate this revolver as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, should suffice for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves. This Model 10 is Excellent mechanically. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is minimal, only a faint etchy shallow impress that traverses half of the width of the top strap. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is a tight .005; and these facts, coupled with the moderate blue wear to the ejector rod, indicates to us that this revolver has not undergone very much firing, certainly not with +P rounds. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels an additional 2 to 5 degrees after the cylinder times on double action in all six positions. On single action, the hammer travels an additional 25 degrees on all six after timing. The single action trigger pull is a crisp 3 pounds. Lateral play to the cylinder is negligible with the trigger relaxed, less than 1/2 mm total; with the trigger pulled all the way, however, there is no lateral movement at all to the cylinder. We are including a North Carolina Department of Corrections left hand duty holster, one that is also period appropriate. We're offering this very attractive, serviceable and collectable Carter-Era Model 10-5 for only $ 319.00 Not transferable to civilians in California, District of Colombia, or Massachusetts. Freight paid if we keep the grips.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $10 lower 48; $30 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority Mail, insured with Delivery Confirmation. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
