Here is a specimen of Franchi’s only foray into the rimfire market, their 1968 Centennial Edition .22 LR Autoloader, a distinctive take-down lightweight with alloy frame, buttstock fed magazine, and 20 inch barrel. Like most other Franchis, it barely tips the scales, only 4 3/4 pounds empty. Finish is blue steel barrel with black anodized alloy receiver; beavertail Italian Walnut forend and buttstock, 13 3/4 inch length of pull. This one has been hauled more than fired. Its home domicile was Harvey County, Kansas, where it wound up the property of the Sheriff’s Office in Newton because the second generation owner was not as well behaved as the original owner. Department confiscation markings on the left side of the receiver are the chief surface detractions, but there is extensive scouring to both wood and metal. We classify this Franchi Centennial as Good, perhaps Very Good, since 30 to 40 percent of its surfaces show handling wear. It is Excellent Mechanically; we have cleaned it and then test fired it with 10 rounds of mixed CCI, Winchester, and Federal ammunition with no hitches. We’re offering it for only $ 219.95.
