From a sparingly used career in the deer woods of New England comes this factory Remington Barrel for the widely popular 870 Express shotgun, chambered in 20 gauge. Manufacturer is Remington Arms of Ilion NY. Factory sku is 4578, but the currently produced barrels are not as versatile as this one. Construction is matte blue finished steel, including the sights. Sights are Remington 700 style Rifle Sights, with dovetailed white tipped front sight resting in its original ramp base. Rear is Windage and elevation adjustable white point rear. Length is 20 inches; 20 1/16 from the muzzle to the chamber shoulder. Chambering is 20 gauge, 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells interchangeably. Internal Diameter of the muzzle measures .595, Improved Cylinder, the factory recommended choking for slugs and buckshot. Note that it has the Detent ball in the barrel lug, so it will even fit early specimens of the 870 Express and LT 20. Any new owners should have a 3 inch chambered 870 Express or LT-20 model 870 Shotgun with 4 shot magazine tube. This barrel will Not fit the older LW 20 or standard weight 20 gauge 870 models. It will not fit Special Field 870s because their magazine tubes were too short for it. It will not fit any other shotgun besides an 870 Express or 870 LT20. It will not fit the bucket stick of a Case 520 Backhoe. From its CM barrel code, it left the Ilion Plant in March of 1992. Surface detractions are only moderate, finish freckling here and there, and those are not visible except under close inspection. We rate it as Excellent Condition, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and sight adjustments are all bright, clean, and excellent. From our inspection of the companion parent shotgun, we estimate this barrel has been fired fewer than 50 times. Replacement pricing on this barrel is upwards of $200 in our area; and they aren’t easy to find, especially the few like this one with the detent in their barrel lug. We’re offering the barrel in the photos for only $ 149.00.
