Smith & Wesson introduced its first ever production .45 Auto in late 1985, so this one, manufactured in late February of 1986, is part of the first full year of production. Its exclusive consumer owner is a distinguished retired native Tennessee Naval Veteran who spent his second career in Panama City, Florida area as a Firearms Instructor for military and police. Special order number is 6227, and this pistol was probably shipped to Law Enforcement Supply Company for the Panama City P.D. or Bay County Sheriff’s Department. It is in its original one-piece box with its manual, warranty statement, field stripping document, and magazine assembly instruction document. Serial number prefix is TAN. This pistol exhibits moderate holster and carry scouring, mostly on the right side of the frame and slide. Sights are original configuration round shouldered anodized white outline fixed rear and red-ramp stainless front that is integral to the slide. Mainspring housing, as the photos show, is checkered serrated cast steel. Right side safety lever is anchored with an Allen retaining screw, whereas many of this specimen’s mates had Phillips screws. Guide rod is original one piece steel, and that and the bell-nosed configuration of the barrel were responsible for the superior accuracy of these famous pistols, and started Smith & Wesson off on the right foot in the .45 market. We rate this 645 as Very Good, since about 20 percent of its surface is affected by moderate contact evidence; photos, however, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. From information from the owner, it has been fired fewer than 2,000 rounds. Note that both magazines are original steel floorplate and steel follower. Other specs are traditional single- and double action semi-auto pistol with ambidextrous safety/decocker; firing pin safety, main safety, and magazine safety; capacity 8 + 1 rounds of .45 ACP ammunition; barrel length 5 inch Government size; weight empty 39 1/16 ounces; type one serrated squared trigger guard; .260 serrated satin stainless hammer; .365 satin smooth faced combat trigger. We are also including its original home, a Mixson Leather Black Basketweave unlined right hand 645 holster from the year of production. The holster will grade Very Good, and it even has its original factory bag. Own this first-run 645 for only $ 589.95. Not transferable to civilians in California, Chicago, D.C., Massachusetts, or New York City.

Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
