Here is a specimen of the recently resurrected Model of 1917 Double Action U.S. Military service revolver, manufactured 80 years after the fact. This is, of course, the Model 22 internal lock variant, 5 ½ inch bright blue .45 ACP Caliber with classic burly walnut M&P style grips. This 1917 Classic has never been out of Smith & Wesson Corporate Custody until last month, when Smith & Wesson released it as what they call a Demo model, one that has starred at one of S&W’s industry show exhibits. Original box has an overlabel that has the word Used to the right of the serial number. This revolver is in mint condition, and rotation marking on the cylinder is no more pronounced than any of its NIB peers. We detect test firing residue on three of the cylinder chamber faces, and that is always the case with factory-released Smith & Wessons. Fired brass envelope is dated October 17, 2007.
