Its full time double action configuration allowed police officers a smooth transition from revolver use, where they always trained with double action only firing. You don’t want a rookie police officer, or a frightened homeowner, going into a stressful situation armed with a light trigger single action mode pistol, with the hammer back; and that is not possible with this gun. For Nine Years, the 5946 was a worthy competitor with the fashionable Glocks, and its stainless steel construction gave civilians and law enforcement confidence that they were holding a real pistol, not a piece of plastic. This fine pistol is eminently serviceable, with serrated front strap grip frame, fully operable magazine safety, high capacity 15 round stainless factory magazine; and Novak style three dot sights. Factory SKU is 108126. Specs are full time double action pistol with black anodized .305 smooth combat trigger and matching .260 semi-bobbed hammer. Caliber, of course, is 9mm Parabellum, 15 + 1 capacity, but we will happily sub a factory S&W or Mec-Gar 10 rounder for any civilian buyers residing in Chicago or New York. This particular 5946 served and protected our fellow citizens in Massachusetts on duty at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Bedford.
