This is a Winchester model 1895 flat-side rifle. It is chambered in 30 US. The stock and bluing are both original, although the stock does have a crack that runs back from the receiver (additional pictures will show the crack), and a small crack in the tip of the forearm. The barrel has an area on it that someone has taken a pipe wrench to and left marks (additional pictures will also show this damage). The action is still very smooth, and the gun still has a good bore. The front sight is missing the blade, but they can be easily replaced. The serial number is 46XX, which traces this gun back to being made in 1896. There were only 5000 of the flat side 1895 rifles produced between 1895 and 1896.
