Please bear with us. We're still a couple hundred orders behind, 3-5 days. Photo specimen is sold already, but it is representative of its mates. Buyers may take a very similar specimen to this one, still in the cosmoline for $329. Years of production are 1956, 1958, or 1959, we will honor requests as best possible. Numbers may not match on subs.
These are eminently serviceable specimens of the Chinese type 56 infantry rifle chambered in 7.62x39 caliber, that we call the SKS. Manufacturer was Jianshe Arsenal in the People’s Republic of China, on Russian milling equipment and under Russian supervision. From the photo rifle's very early 3 prefix onto a 6 digit 100000 range or below serial number, it was manufactured in 1959, when the North Vietnamese government made a de facto declaration of war on the South. We will try to honor specific year requests, all these rifles were 1956, 1958, or 1959 production. Importer is Century Arms International, so marked on the right side of the barrel. Type, of course, is gas operated semi-automatic rifle. Construction is milled blue steel barrel, receiver and parts; and Asian Hardwood stock. Barrel is standard 20 inch, calibrated military rear sight and elevation adjustable front sight, with drift capability for windage – on the well hooded front sight. Bayonet is period correct blade type. Surface detractions are moderate to extensive. These all show some substantial original bluing, but perhaps majority gun metal gray. Buttstocks have extensive scouring and dinging, but no outright cracks. Trigger group, magazine, bolt, cover, and receiver serial numbers may or may not match, but all parts are original. We rate these type 56s as Good, 60 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our shoppers to check our grading. Bores show some etchy texture next to the gas port, but rifling is otherwise sharp and clean, especially the 6 inches forward of the port all the way to the muzzle. The ones we have left are saturated with military cosmoline, grease. Every buyer should disassemble and clean the entire rifle, including its bolt, see yooperj com SKS Page 25. These are a well made, well preserved, historic and collectable specimens whose mates popped caps at our soldiers in Vietnam. None of these did that, because these are part of a small shipment the Red Chinese made to the Balkans around 1960. We’re offering specimens very similar to the one in the photos, only very greasy, each for only $ 339.00.
