Here is a Nixon Era specimen of the most UNDERrated shotgun on the market, the venerable Mossberg 500 pump. This specimen has a single slide bar, whereas the ones made after some time in the early 1970s all had double slide bars. Actually, they didn’t need two; the Model 12 Winchesters only had one. This 20 gauge Mossberg is a local shotgun that comes to us from the estate of one of our late local servicemen, a career Air Force vet who served his country out of Eglin Air Force Base in Florida with faithfulness and diligence during the Cold War. It was one of his favorites, and the surface spotting and light superficial external pitting happened after his death, from storage in a dark closet. Finish, then, is brown patina with substantial original bluing. Buttstock has two cracks visible, and our stock man has repaired them with Accra-Glass. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent.
