Description: Here is a relatively rare variant of the Smith & Wesson .38 Special Military & Police, numbered model 10-8, a Light- or Tapered- or Pencil-Barrel specimen. Almost all of the 10-8s we’ve run across in the past 30 years have been heavy barrels; beginning in the 1970s, the strong preference was for heavy barrels, and they were about the same price. BRC serial number prefix dates this one to Mid-1994, which makes it even more striking to be that young and still be a Pencil Barrel. This revolver comes from service to our fellow Americans with Alameda County Sheriff’s Department in California; and it is very well maintained. Surface detractions are only moderate, faint amounts of whitening on the sharp edges of the blued steel metal, faint scouring on the side plate from holster strap contact, and extensive etchy browning on the grip frame’s back strap only. Both hammer and trigger are .265 service width, smooth combat trigger and serrated traditional hammer. Both of them have strong original case coloring with moderate amounts of brown toning. We rate this 10-8 as a strong Very Good, since no more than 15 to 20 percent of its surfaces are affected by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. This .38 Special Military & Police is Excellent mechanically. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is negligible, no cutting or even etching whatsoever. Bore, cylinder chambers and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels 10 degrees after the cylinder times in all six positions on Double Action. On single action, the hammer travels fully 25 to 30 degrees on all six after timing, and the single action trigger pull is a crisp original 4 pounds. Grips are period correct replacement Hogue Combat Monogrip. Replacement pricing on new Model 10s is $600 apiece or more if a person can even find one; and all of them have the suspect two-piece barrels. We’re offering this fully traditional, attractive and serviceable 4 inch blue Pencil Barreled 10, however, for only $ 359.95. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
