Description: According to the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, the original run of Smith & Wesson Model 4003 lasted from 1991 until 1993; and then, in response to the viability of the .40 caliber, the .40 Tactical Smith & Wesson, numbered model 4003TSW, resurrected in 2000 and enjoyed a production run that extended through 2003. Unlike its 4006 sibling, the 4003’s last digit indicates a white, coated alloy frame, that yields a 28.5 ounce empty weight. Hammer is .260 serrated spur; and .305 smooth face combat trigger, ambidextrous safety levers, slide stop and Novak Night Sights are all black anodized finish. From its TDT serial number prefix, this particular pistol was issued to the Westfield Police Department in 2001. From our dark room inspection, the night sights are at 60 to 70 percent of their original strength, and still viable. Barrel is 4 inch stainless with loaded chamber indicator port, and its distinctive muzzle contour ensures superior accuracy. This 4003TSW’s stainless steel slide, in fact, has been specially mated to its frame with oversized rails since the very beginning of the manufacturing process in Springfield, so not only is its accuracy unparalleled, this pistol has received similar attention to Custom Shop or Performance Center pieces in many respects. Note the serrated grip frame front strap and smooth round type 2 trigger guard. This 4003TSW, like its 5906 ancestor, is what Smith & Wesson calls traditional double action. From a resting hammer with safety on, the operator pushes the safety lever forward and then commences a long smooth double action trigger pull on the first shot, and then subsequent shots are short pull single action until the operator ceases the firing session by engaging the safety, which also acts as a decocker. Other safety features include a magazine safety, which prevents firing unless a magazine is in battery; and a firing pin safety to guard against accidental discharge if the pistol drops on its muzzle. Grips are original factory Zytel polymer, and both magazines are factory Smith & Wesson blue follower stainless Accu-Guide 11 rounders, marked Restricted Law Enforcement because they were manufactured during the Federal Ban Period, with its 10 round magazine limit for civilians. This particular specimen patrolled more with the Westfield Massachusetts Police Department than it was actually fired during its decade long career serving and protecting the good citizens of Hampden County. Surface detractions are extensive, but not detrimental. Right side of one-piece grip shows extensive scouring, and this 4003TSW shows extensive holster and contact whitening, buffing and scouring mostly on its edges and on the grip frame strut. We rate it as only Good, 70 percent vicinity; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It ie Excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. We’re offering the 4003TSW in the photos for only $ 389.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of Massachusetts or New York City. For civilian buyers in New York State, we will sub two Pre-Ban Yellow Follower Magazines instead of the two LE’s, or $15 off with no Magazines. For civilian residents of California, District of Colombia, Puerto Rico or Hawaii we will sub a factory 10 rounder For $20 extra; $39 apiece on the 10 rounders. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $10 lower 48; $30 AK, HI, PR, USPS Priority. 7 day money back on used items, but No Returns on NIB, Lay-away, or Ammo. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
