Here is Sig Sauer’s premier compact hammer fired metal frame pistol, the P239 chambered in 9mm caliber. Type is traditional single and double action semiautomatic pistol. Manufacturer and warrantor is Sig Sauer of Exeter, NH, with combined German parts from the Eckenforde plant, Israeli sights, Italian Magazines, and US made parts. Factory order number is 239M9TSS, same as the 239-9-TSS except for a stronger double action trigger pull. Construction is steel slide, barrel, springs, trigger, hammer, levers, magazine followers and bodies, and internal parts, assembled into a lightweight alloy frame with polymer grip panels and magazine floorplates. Chambering is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Barrel is 3 9/16 inch, six groove right hand 1: 9.84 rifling. Slide is 1.02 wide at the port, with serrated rear laterals and one piece full length guide rod. Sights are steel dovetailed front and rear, MH3 Siglite 3 dot Night Sights, made for Sig by Meprolight in Israel. Trigger is .315 smooth faced steel, pulls double action at 16 pounds vicinity, with 1 inch of travel. Single action pull on the photo specimen gauged at 6 pounds on its two stage pull, with moderate felt creep and overtravel. Hammer is short serrated spur .310. Sigs do not have or need a manually operated safety, the decocker lever puts the car in park to end any firing session. Magazines are factory issue Italian steel bodied, steel follower 8 rounders with short finger rest, so 8 + 1 fully loaded capacity. Grips are factory Sig black polymer, with stippled surface laterals and backstrap. Overall length is 6 5/8 inches from the muzzle to the grip frame strut. Height is 5 inches from the floorplate heel to the top of the rear sight. Weight empty is 28 ounces with center of gravity at the breech face. Finish is satin stainless slide, and black Nitron frame and levers. Magazine bodies are black anti-friction coated. Each P239 TSS comes in its factory box with protective papers, loaded chamber indicator brochure, warning about the Massachusetts attorney general, Sig decal, Sig Ammunition flyer, NRA enrollment card, chamber protector, total of two magazines, hang tag, factory cable lock, lubricant package, owners manual that contains Sig’s statement of lifetime service warranty, and a never executed factory registration card. The P239, for reasons we can't imagine, is now discontinued. Last replacement pricing was $1032 on sigsauer com.
