Here's another real gem from my father's 1970's handgun collection. In September 1974 my father purchased this beautiful Smith & Wesson Model 19 Combat Magnum with 2.5" barrel (serial # 5K93868). This 36 year old gun is in near mint condition. Cylinder swing-out is tight like a new gun and the action is smooth and crisp. My father was a collector not a shooter. He kept all his hand guns in their original boxes with manufacturer's wax paper wrapping, owner's manual and even the original store invoice! I'm in the process of selling off his entire handgun collection. This is one of those rare 1970's-era Smiths that looks like it was kept in a time capsule. The Model 19 was one of Smith & Wesson's top-end magnum K-Frame revolvers; it came with an adjustable rear target sight, pinned barrel and recessed cylinder holes. My father felt this would be an usual addition to his collection in a "snub-nose" format so he ordered it with 2.5" barrel, round butt and bright blue finish. The wood grips are un-marred and the checkering is deep and sharp attesting to the gun's lack of use.
