From a New England collection comes this attractive RG39 Revolver. Manufacturer until 1968 was Rohm GmbH of Sontheim, West Germany. After 1968, RG Industries opened in Miami, with German Barrels, cylinders, and part fitted into US Made Cast Frames. RG Industries was sued out of business in 1986 by none other than Sarah Brady. From this RG’s X035000 range serial number, it was manufactured around 1984. It was one of RG Industries’ highest grade revolvers. Type is true swingout, single and double action revolver. Construction is steel inside barrel, cylinder, hammer, trigger, and internal parts fitted into a zinc alloy / pot metal frame with pot metal barrel shroud, and with magna type Walnut grip panels. Chambering is .32 Smith & Wesson [short] and .32 S&W Long interchangeably; and cylinder capacity is 6 rounds. Barrel is two piece, pinned into place, with steel inner barrel that has 8 groove right hand 1:16 rifling. Sights are barrel shroud integral serrated ramp front, with frame integral fixed notch rear. Trigger is .200 serrated face, with .400 target width serrated spur hammer. Ignition is floating firing pin, with transfer bar internal safety device that prevents the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is fully depressed. Frame is square butt type, medium frame. Weight empty is 25 ounces, with center of gravity at the cylinder stop. Surface detractions on this RG39 are minimal to moderate, principally edge wear. We rate it as Very Good, 80 to 85 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Double action trigger pull is tight but smooth 10 pound vicinity. On both single and double action, the cylinder times correctly on all five positions. Cylinder has no lateral play with the trigger fully depressed. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is minimal, only a faint etchy impress. Trigger rebound is good with the cylinder closed; the RG31 was not designed to have its action manipulated with the cylinder open. From the minimal blast effect, and from the minimal carbon deposits on the cylinder face, we estimate this RG has been fired fewer than 100 times. Replacement pricing on similar revolvers from Armscor and Rossi is $300 or more. We’re offering the Reagan Era RG39 in the photos, however, for only $ 189.00.
