This is a pre-plastic, all metal (stainless steel) rugged and reliable S&W pistol with all the "goodies:" it is mat stainless steel (which is much easier to clean as well as maintain), it is SA/DA (single action and double action), it has ambidextrous decockers, it has 3-dot, adjustable sights front and rear, it has an extended magazine release with a 15-round magazine capacity, it has front and rear serrations, with an aftermarket, soft rubber wrap-around grip, it has a wide trigger blade with a lightened hammer (for faster cycling), it has a magazine "bumper" to protect the magazine when doing fast reloads, and it has an extended beaver tail to prevent hammer bite. This is the 3rd generation of the S&W model, which means it has most of the improvements S&W made to this line of semi-autos. It takes down like the Browning 1911, but has a bushingless, 4" barrel and external extractor and full length guide rod. The name of Smith and Wesson pretty well speaks for itself, and the fact that these were made for the police should tell you that they are almost unbreakable. The were made when "men were men:" if you run out of bullets, you can club them to death. Just kidding: but these are really great pistols, and everyone should have one in their collection.
