We Southerners appreciate folk naming things after our section, but we must confess we have experienced a 25-30 percent return ratio with these, and the competitor mini-revolver with the word North in its name fewer than 1 percent by way of contrast. We are referring to the possibility of a product needing warranty service from the factory, and this one's is quite high, unacceptably so for us. Charter Arms bills their Dixie Derringer as having a Unique Compact Size. Their mini revolver is unique, but not by virtue of its size. The size is exactly the same as the competitor North American Arms Mini Revolver. The Dixie Derringer, however, has a cross-frame hammer block safety as well as an internal lock, both of which are reassuring to many of us who carry the Minis as sidearms, including at least two of us here on our staff. The Dixie Derringer, Charter Arms #72313, is full satin stainless with no brushed stainless surfaces like its competitors. Barrel length is 1 1/8 inches; capacity is 5 rounds of .22 long rifle; weight empty is 6 ounces. Fixed sights are round staked front sight with notch rear, and the action, of course, is single action only revolver. These are still hard to come by. Replacement price on these in our area is upwards of $300 apiece, if a person can even find one.
