The move to wholesale Great White Father imagery on our common coins began, of course, in 1909 when our second strong non-founding President, Theodore Roosevelt, presided over the placement of the first strong one's – Lincoln's – on the penny. That was the first move to remove the Indianized Liberty image. The last coin to have Liberty deleted was, of course, this one, the Half Dollar, beginning with Franklin's likeness in 1948. We wonder what Franklin would think supplanting Liberty Herself on our coinage. This is a complete set of very attractive better grade Franklin Halves, including all specimens from 1948 through 1963, a total of 35. On our view, all of these will grade at least Fine. In fact, the only specimens that grade only Fine, on our view, are the 1950, 1951-S, 1954, and 1957-D because the crack in the bell is weak on their reverse sides. All other specimens have Very Fine to AU details by our estimate.1948-D has green toned mint luster, probably an MS-60. 1953-D, 1955, 1957, 1960=D, 1962, 1962-D and 1963 all exhibit at least hints of mint luster.
