We are offering an INCREDIBLE FIRST YEAR PRODUCTION Winchester Model 1894 Takedown chambered in 38-55 caliber. This rifle is GORGEOUS and appears completely original!
Lets start at the 26” octagon barrel: It is beautiful and retains the majority of its original bluing. The muzzle is very good and shows some blue loss. The bore is nearly excellent; bright with strong rifling. The under tube is very good and has a couple spot of blue loss from the process of taking it down.
The receiver is quite attractive and retains most of its original bluing; There is some “spotty” loss. Screws are un-marred. The lever action shows nice case coloring; Locks up tightly. Crescent butt plate shows bluing that has given way to a beautiful patina.
The wood on the rifle is stunning! Both the stock and fore-end are amazing with very light wear. No cracks or chips; some light surface wear. The wood meets up with the metal parts nicely and has not been sanded down or refinished.
This rifle has been fit with a LYMAN No.1 Combination Tang Sight (2nd Variation, Pat. May 6, 84). The front of the barrel is fit with a LYMAN hooded flip sight.
