From a collection in New England comes this specimen of Sterling Arms’s tribute to the Galesi Vest Pocket .25 Automatic. Design was Italian, close to the Armi Galesi Vest Pocket .25 that was popular in the U.S. up until the 1968 Gun Control Act stopped its importation. Sterling Arms resurrected this best version of the Galesi in the early 1970s. From its 020000 range serial number, we estimate it was manufactured in 1974 or 1975. Manufacturer of this piece was E & R, Inc., of Gasport, NY, brand name Sterling Arms. Type is blowback semi automatic pocket pistol, chambered in .25 ACP Caliber. Construction is entirely steel metal, with polymer contoured grips and magazine floorplate. Barrel is 2 1/4 inch six groove right hand 1:16 rifling, with lateral extraction and ejection. Sight is low profile rib with low blade front and fixed notch rear, all slide integral. Trigger is .218 chrome plated smooth faced steel, and pulls at 7 1/2 pounds with moderate felt creep. Magazine is chrome plated, ported factory issue and holds 6 rounds of .25 ACP Ammunition, 6 + 1 Fully loaded capacity. Magazine release is original European style on the grip frame butt. Safety is side lever type for right handed shooter, on safe parallel with the slide, and on fire straight down parallel to the grip panel. Dimensions are 4 5/8 inches long; 3 3/8 inches high; with a frame thickness of .530 inch. Weight empty is 13 ounces, center of gravity at the grip frame front strap. Finish is an original attractive purplish tint salt blue. Surface detractions are moderate, principally finish freckling on the right side. This is, after all, a pocket pistol. We rate it as Good, perhaps Very Good, 70 to 75 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate this pistol has been fired fewer than 100 times. The original Italian Galesis are collectable these days, and this is actually a better pistol. We’re offering it for only $ 159.00.
